Doha, Qatar, October 13, 2011 – Rabita Baku advanced to the FIVB Women's Club World Championship by dominating Mirador Santo Domingo 25-15, 25-15, 25-8 on Thursday evening in Doha, Qatar.
Rabita Baku Captain Natalya Mammadova: It was quite an easy game today. Tomorrow will be a lot more difficult. The Turkish team have won all games with 3-0 in this competition. As long as we stick to our game plan, play smart tactically and make use of our strong blocks, we will be able to win.
Rabita Baku Player Kathy Radzuweit: Obviously I'm very happy that we've won. Even though we won 3-0, it wasn't that easy. We needed to stay focused, but in the end it got a little easier because I think Mirador Santo Domingo already gave up.
Rabita Baku Coach Zoran Gajic: We knew we were stronger, but that didn't mean we could relax. Despite some minor mistakes in the last set, I'm satisfied with my team's performance of today. I will not discuss tomorrow's result because I never do that. Only God knows what will happen tomorrow. I can say that the Turkish have a very strong team, a very experienced coach and in four years time became one of the best teams in the world. I've only worked with this team for a few weeks now, but I have full confidence in my players.
Mirador Santo Domingo Captain Francia Jackson: I would like to congratulate Rabita Baku, and I wish them good luck in the finals tomorrow. I'm a little disappointed in my team's performance of today. It was definitely the worst game of the whole competition. I still believe we have a good chance to win tomorrow's match against the Brazilians.
Mirador Santo Domingo Coach Wilson Sanchez: I would also like to congratulate Rabita Baku. They really deserve to be in the finals. It will be a great game to watch tomorrow. Both teams are quite similar, so I have no idea who will win. I do know that, despite today's bad performance, we will do our best to take home the bronze medal.
