Doha, Qatar, October 13, 2011 – Turkey’s VakifBank TTelekom Istanbul earned the first spot into the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club Championship title match with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Brazil’s Sollys Nestle Osasco on Thursday morning at Doha, Qatar.
VakifBank TTelekom Istanbul Captain Godze Sonsirma: I would like to congratulate both teams with today's performance. It was a good game. Our receptions, attacks and blocks today were perfect, but tomorrow we have an important game, so let's focus on that.
VakifBank TTelekom Istanbul Coach Giovanni Guidetti: I'm very happy with my team's performance of not only today, but the whole competition. Especially because we were only able to train once before the start of this championship. We were a little afraid because we have never played at 10 o'clock in the morning. But I think my players handeled it very well and were very focused. To win this match against the Brazilians wasn't easy at all, so we're very happy with the outcome.
Solleys Nestle Osasco Captain Juliana Costa: I'm a little disappointed in my team's performance of today. I'm not happy with the result. We really tried to give our best, but the Turkish team played very strong. The competition is not finished yet, and we will still fight for third place. Congratulations to VakifBank TTelekom Istanbul, and we wish them good luck in the finals.
Solleys Nestle Osasco Coach Luizomar Moura: My team didn't play the way I wanted them to play, not as good as last game. We had difficulties in managing the reception of the ball. We always want to win, but the difference in experience was just too big today. We played against one of the best teams in the world, especially Nikolic is a world class player. Tomorrow we'll do our best to take home the bronze medal.
