Doha, Qatar, October 12, 2011 – Rabita Baku won Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship after edging Sollys Nestle Osasco 25-12, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-6 on Wednesday at Doha, Qatar.
Sollys Nestle Osasco Captain Juliana Costa: We committed too many mistakes causing the defeat. We also had some trouble with the tall blocks of the opponent. Hopefully we will be able to resolve these issues together with our coach and win again tommorow.
Sollys Nestle Osasco Coach Luizomar Moura: First of all I would like to wish Rabita Baku good luck with tomorrow's match. We obviously knew we we're going to play against a powerful team. I'm very happy with today's performamce. We're missing five of our main players and are playing with a very young team. I believe some of today's players like Silva, Brait and Almeida will be the future of our national team. I love working with youth players and these kinds of competitions are a great experience for them.
Rabita Baku Captain Natalya Mammadova: It was quite a difficult match for us. It took five sets for us to win. It was a very important victory, which will lead us to the next round. Both teams played very strong today. Brazil had some good blocks, too. Even though this is our first participation in this championship, I believe we can win this tournament.
Rabita Baku Coach Zoran Gajic: We showed some high quality volleyball today. It was a great game to watch. Sollys Nestle Osasco played better defensively, but our blocks were very strong and we made less mistakes. I think that was also the main reason of this victory, because the Brazilian team made many mistakes. At last I would like to congratulate both teams.
