Doha, Qatar, October 10, 2011 – Brazil's Sesi Sao Paulo clinched a spot in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship semifinal round by defeated Egypt's Al-Ahly Cairo 25-18, 27-25, 18-25, 25-14 on Monday to improve to 2-0 in Pool B. Al-Ahly Cairo ends the tournament with a 0-3 record and one point in the standings.
Al-Ahly Cairo Captain Abdallah Bekhit: Congratulations to Sesi Sao Paulo. They really deserved it. Before Sesi we played three great matches. This match we made too many mistakes in the first and second sets. The third set we corrected our mistakes, but then we lost the fourth set because of too many personal mistakes.
Al-Ahly Cairo Coach Ibrahim F. Mohammed: First of all I would like to congratulate Sesi Sao Paulo, not only with today's victory, but also with the qualification. I believe we have lost this match because my players had too much confidence after the third set and thought too easily about the fourth set. Further I would like to thank my players for playing consistently, and I'm very proud of the young players. They will certainly be the future of our team.
Sesi Sao Paulo Captain Murilo Endres: We're very happy with this victory. This match was definitely better than yesterday's match. Al-Ahly is a good team. Their service worked very well and especially their number 4 (Abdelhay) played a good match. Now we're going to the semifinals. So Let's focus on that.
Sesi Sao Paulo Coach Giovane Gavio: The most important thing for us was the victory of today, which would lead us to the semifinals. The Egyptians played very well. We started the game with our main players because we knew the Egyptians could complicate things for us, which obviously happened in the third set. My team didn't play exactly the way I wanted them to play, so that's definitely something we need to work on.
