Doha, Qatar, October 10, 2011 – Poland’s Jastrzebski Wegiel won the first two sets over Russia's Zenit Kazan, but needed to save three match points before winning the match 2-22, 25-17, 11-25, 21-25, 19-17 on Monday in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar.
KS Jastrzebski Wegiel Captain Zbigniew Bartman: Obviously we are very happy that we've won. It was an interesting game and gave us a clear view on our play and our form. The first two sets we won quite easy, after which the game really started.
KS Jastrzebski Wiegel Coach Lorenzo Bernardi: Like the captain mentioned, we're very happy. It was a very important win because we're a new team. This will definitely give the players more confidence, especially because Zenit Kazan has a lot of top players with a lot of experience. Still we haven't won anything yet.
Zenit Kazan Captain Alexander Volkov: The first two sets weren't our game at all. We started to play in the third set, which led to winning two sets in a row. Unfortunately it wasn't enough.
Zenit Kazan Coach Vladimir Alekno: I agree with the captain, we started to play from the third set. I think we lost concentration during the first two sets, but we recovered. It was obviously a great game to watch. The players have shown really nice volleyball.
