Doha, Qatar, October 8, 2011 – Al-Arabi Doha of Qatar pleased their home fans with a thrilling 25-23, 29-31, 26-24, 21-25, 15-12 victory over Al-Ahly Cairo on Saturday to conclude the opening day of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar.
Al Ahly Cairo Coach Ibrahim Mohamed: It was a strong match. We played five sets against a team which has highly professional players. I would like to congratulate them for their performance. As my captain said, the referee wasn’t fair to us at this match. My players committed many mistakes and our performance should be better next matches in order to gain more points.
Al Ahly Cairo Captain Bekhit Abdalla: Thanks to God for our players performance. We played a great match, but unfortunately, the referee wasn’t fair to us. Congratulations to Al-Arabi team. We still have two matches and we hope to do well.
Al-Arabi Doha coach Adel Sennoun: We didn’t play well. The referees were great. I really don’t know why the Egyptian team is complaining about the referees. I’m not satisfied with the performance of my team. We committed many mistakes, thus I think the final result should be three sets for us and none for them.
Al-Arabi Doha Captain Saeed Al Jamanni: I’m really feeling happy to win the first match against a strong team. We are in a strong group and tomorrow our performance should be better than today because we are going to face the Brazilian team who is famous for being one of the best teams in South America.
