Doha, Qatar, October 14, 2011 – Trentino Diatec Trento recovered from a first set loss in winning the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship with a 29-31, 25-16, 25-11, 25-16 victory over KS Jastrzebski Wegiel on Friday evening in Doha, Qatar.
Trentino Diatec Trento Captain Matey Kaziyski: It was an incredible final. Both teams played on a very high level. The first set was a little difficult for us, but we realised we were really close and that if we would push just a little more we would be able to win the match. And we did! We have participated in this champiomship for several years now, and we are looking forward to return next year.
Trentino Diatec Trento Coach Radostin Stoytchev: Obviously I'm very happy with this victory. It's an honour to win this championship for the third time. The whole team and management have really deserved this. Some of our players returned from the national team only 10 days before the start of this championship, which makes this victory even better, with only so little time to prepare.
KS Jastrzebski Wiegel Coach Lorenzo Bernardi: Unfortunately we weren't able to win this final, but we've have shown some real quality volleyball in the two matches before. We've won against Zenit Kazan and Sesi Sao Paulo, which are two of the biggest teams in the world. So I think we can be very happy with our team's performance in this championship. Today we played a very good first set, but weren't able to continue this way in the remaining sets.
