Doha, Qatar, October 12, 2011 – Italy’s Trentino Diatec Trento captured their 13th consecutive FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship match dating back to 2009 by defeating Sesi Sao Paulo 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 to go into the semifinal round as the top seed from Pool B.
Sesi Sao Paulo Captain Murilo Endres: Today's match was a little strange. The first set we played quite well, but couldn't find the right rhythm for the remaining sets. The Italians have a very strong team, which can definitely make the difference. We needed to make some changes during the game because we we weren't facing the same team we were expecting. Tomorrow's match is more important, so let's focus on that and forget this defeat.
Sesi Sao Paulo Coach Giovane Gavio: We didn't expect to play against the second team of Trentino Diactec Trento, that is why I decided to play with some of the reserves after the first set. Obviously I was thinking of tomorrow's match and wanted to give my main players some rest. I started with the first team because I wanted to win this game, but after the 1-1, I told my players it was better not to extend the match and think of tomorrow.
Trentino Diatec Trento Captain Matey Kaziyski: This victory was very important for us, 13th in a row already (at FIVB Men's Club World Championship dating back to 2009). We hope to keep up the good work and win this championship. It was a difficult game. We started with a completely different team than we normally do, but we were able to turn these difficulties into our advantages. Even though tomorrow's match is more important and we were thinking of our opponents, we did pay enough attention to today's match.
Trentino Diatec Trento Coach Radostin Stoytchev: First of all I would like to thank Murilo for mentioning us as the best team of this competition. I honestly believe they are. It's a very strong team, which definitely knows how to play. Obviously I'm very happy with the outcome of this match, but I know we can do better. Tomorrow we'll face the Russians, which is also a very strong team. That is why I decided to devide today's match into two groups, so my players will be fresh tomorrow.
