 Press Release
De Cecco wants fast start from Drean Bolivar

Luciano De Cecco has set his sights on a semifinal place at the 2010 FIVB Men's Club World Championship

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 7, 2010 – Luciano De Cecco is urging his Drean Bolivar team-mates to hit the ground running at the 2010 FIVB Men's Club World Championship but also hopes they enjoy themselves.

The Argentinian team face Pool B rivals Paul Mitchell of USA in the tournament’s opening game in Doha, Qatar on December 15 and De Cecco said: "Probably the most important game will be the first one, because we will need to adapt to the time difference and the place."

De Cecco, who competed for Argentina at the FIVB Men's World Championship Italy 2010, admits every game will be a challenge for the South Americans but is hoping his team-mates will savour the experience. "I think playing a world championship does not happen every day and so, we must enjoy it to the fullest," added a player with over 100 appearances for Argentina.

The club held a special ceremony on Monday to wish the team good luck in their quest and highlighted the fact they have won 22 titles in the eight seasons since 2002 – the year Drean Bolivar came into existence.

Fans of Drean Bolivar are optimistic that their favourites will do well and with players such as De Cecco, Pablo Meana and Jean Carlo Badalotti, the Brazilian who won the MVP award at the 2002 FIVB Men’s World Championship, they have reason to be confident. There are also promising young players such as Lucas Ocampo, Federico Pereyra and Sebastian Sole, who help ensure coach Javier Weber can call on a wide variety of playing styles.

Drean Bolivar have two more games in the Argentinian league, against Pescadores and Boca Juniors, before departing for Doha, but De Cecco has already set a target for his team, who beat Paul Mitchell when the clubs met in California last year. "It would be great to reach the semifinals," he said. "Let's play to the best of our ability. That always works."
