 Press Release
Argentine hopefuls make winning starts

Argentina's UPCN Volleyball Club triumphed over Linares of Chile in their opening match in San Juan on Tuesday
Bolivar, Argentina, October 28, 2010 – Argentina's Drean Bolivar and UPCN Volley Club both opened the 2010 Men's South American Club Championship with wins on Tuesday as six teams battle it out for a place at the 2010 FIVB Club World Championship.

The tournament is taking place in both Bolivar and San Juan and will conclude this Sunday. The champions will earn a ticket to the Club World Championship, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar from December 14-21.

Four-time national champions Drean Bolivar opened their campaign with a straight-set victory (25-21, 25-18, 25-16) over Paraguay's Deportivo Colon in Group A in Bolivar. Argentine international Lucas Ocampo topped the scoring with 11 points and was supported with positive play from Federico Pereyrade. Javier Weber's team had little trouble in picking up the win against a Colon side who committed too many errors.

In San Juan, the home side UPCN Volleyball Club triumphed over Linares of Chile 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-12) in their opening Group B encounter. The hosts, led by Alex Moreno, imposed their rhythm early on and never looked like losing.

The games scheduled to take place on Wednesday were suspended by the Argentina Volleyball Federation (FEVA) following the death of the former President of Argentina, Nestor Kirchner. Those games have now been rescheduled for Thursday.
