Al Ahly coach Ibrahim Fakhreldin:
"We lack experience, at least some of our players, and the rhythm of the Iranians was simply too fast for us."
Al Ahly captain Mahmoud Abd El Kader:
"We have four guys who recently joined our team and we're gradually playing better and better. It is a bit annoying that the score stayed close for most of the sets but finally we dropped one or two points and were not able to claw our way back again. We have only one foreign player (Australian Shane Alexander) in our team because in Egypt we have a few very young but talented players and they deserve to play in our team, also to get more and more international experience."
Paykan coach Peyman Akbari:
"We had only 24 hours to recover from our defeat against PGE Skra Belchatow and move on psychologically and physically. Moreover, we are not used to play at 10 in the morning and that was also complicating our recovery. However, we are playing better and better and we'll take this competition match by match. The Egyptian team have very good potential for the future, especially as they have been playing at the World Championships and in the World League, which helps a lot in any quest for improvement."
Paykan captain Amir Hosseini:
"This was a key match in order to keep alive our chances of making it to the semifinals and we are happy we won the game, especially since it was not easy to forget the defeat we suffered yesterday on the tie-break."
