Skipper Hosseini hails 'memorable day for Iran'

The Bolivar triple block including captain Gabriel Arroyo (1) lost its effectiveness after two brilliant opening sets

Drean Bolivar coach Javier Weber:
"We had our chance to win the game but we missed it and at this level you won't get a second opportunity. Probably my players felt like they had already won the game."

Drean Bolivar captain Gabriel Arroyo:
"We were controlling the game pretty comfortably, then we relaxed a bit and we could not get our rhythm back. This is a big disappointment."

Paykan coach Peyman Akbari:
"Last year we finished fourth in this competition and this time we got bronze. Now we'll go back to our country, play the national league, go for a win there to qualify for the next Asian Club Championships and if we win there, we'll be back next year to make it to the final. Our team is gradually progressing but right now we're much stronger than any other team in Asia, so if we want to step up even more, we need to play against European or Brazilian sides, in other words against the best teams in the world. I want to thank God for this victory and also my setter, who is the only player with real experience since he is very important in bringing everything together and giving the right confidence to his younger team-mates."

Paykan captain Amir Hosseini:
"This is a memorable day not only for us or for our Volleyball family, but also for our country and Iranian sport. I admit that we did not play well in the first two sets but then our coach was very clever to change tactics and we turned the score around. I want to thank him because, as he was captain of the national team, we played together and he means a lot to all of us. We played with all of our hearts, especially for him."
