Team profile

Founded in 1930 as a football club, becoming Volleyball club in 1957, PGE Skra BELCHATOW advanced to the top-flight league for the first time in 1999 and won its first Championship in 2005, a title they are yet to relinquish after winning the last six crowns.

PGE Skra has also had relative success in Europe, advancing to the Top 12 in every edition they have been a part of, winning bronze in 2008 and 2010. The club is always a favourite among travelling fans, mainly due to the passionate home support that adds to the atmosphere.

The team has plenty of experience and class, with five Polish European champions from 2009 still PGE Skra’s ranks, along with a number of world championship winners.

Coach profile

15 years ago Jacek Nawrocki arrived at PGE Skra Belchatow as a player, intending to stay for one season. A decade-and-a-half later and he is still at the Polish club, albeit in a different capacity to when he arrived.

After finishing his playing career he became assistant coach to Ireneusz Mazur before helping Daniel Castellani for another 3 years.

However when Castellani took up the Polish national team post the club felt it was time that Nawrocki  had the chance to prove himself.

Since then Nawrocki has delivered six consecutive Polish titles as well as a silver medal at last year’s FIVB Club World Championship. A forward thinking coach, he expects to go one better than last year’s result.
