Coaches expecting tough Men's Club World Championship in Qatar

The eight coaches ahead of the FIVB Men's Club World Championships

All the coaches of the eight clubs participating in the 2009 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship to start in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday expect a tough competition for the trophy between the biggest club teams from all over the world.

The return of the FIVB Men's Club World Championship after 17 years since the last edition in 1992 has made the competition more exciting with the strongest teams from around the globe in attendence. But what makes the situation more interesting is the introduction of the new Golden Formula rule that has made the coaches work hard technically to use the rule for their advantage.

The coaches couldn’t pick a favoured team to win the crown but they had one united comment, that the road to the cup will be very tough for the winner.
Here are the excerpts of the eight coaches’ statements during the press conference held at the Ramada Hotel in Doha, Qatar following the technical meeting:

Mohamed Al Trablci (Al Arabi - Qatar):
"I’m very happy to lead Al Arabi of Qatar here in this big event that present a group of the coaches and players who are the best all over the world. I’m ambitious to achieve good results against the best Volleyball schools all over the world like Brazil, Poland and Russia. We want to function well with the new Golden Formula to honor the Arab and Gulf volleyball through the qualification to the semifinal."
Jacek Nawrocki (Skra Belchatow- Poland): "We had the problem of all the European teams as we have a tight calendar to prepare for this competition as we played four very strong matches in the local league and five of my players returned back late to the team being within the national team that won the European Championship gold medal in Turkey."
Marcos Pacheco (Cimed- Brazil): "I’m proud to be here in this big competition with the best clubs all over the world. Although our club was established only since five years, we succeeded to win three local leagues and then the continental competition this year that qualified us to this event. Our objectives is to pass the first round and I know that we lack the information about some participating teams but we are ready to compete as far as we can using the Golden Formula that we didn’t have enough time to train for. I hope that my players can adapt quickly the new system."
Alireza Moameri (Paykan- Iran): "I want to thank Qatar for hosting this competition and allowing us to compete at this world class level. We trained for two and half months with the Golden Formula and then we had also two weeks preparation in Bulgaria and played five matches with the new system and we hope to use this preparation to advance in the competition. We depend on the experience of five national team players as we didn’t have any foreign players in my squad."
David Aleman (Plataneros de Corozal- Puerto Rico): "This is the third time for a Puerto Rican team to qualify to the Club World Championship and the second specially for my team. I have a good memorial about that because I was a player in Corozal when we participated in 1992 and now in 2009 I’m in another seat as a head coach. I have in my team three players from the national team that performed well in the 2006 World Championship in Japan as well as two foreign players and we want to use all our capabilities to go through this competition and advance to the second round."
Radostin Stytchev (Trentino Betclic- Italy): "I’m very happy to be here to complete the successful season we had after we won the Italian league and the European champions’ league. I think with the Golden Formula, the technical difference between the teams will be minimized. We had a new collection of players and we hope to use them successfully in this competition."
Ahmed Moustafa (Zamalek- Egypt): "We came here to represent the Egyptian, the Arab and the African Volleyball regions and we are proud of that. We are one of the youngest teams in the competition as we had many young aged players as well as  seven national team players but we don’t have any forign player and thus we want to use this competition well to gain more experience. We had a problem ion our preparations that the National team stars joined the team very late only few days before the competition, but our camp in Russia was very useful."
Vladimir Alkno (Zenit Kazan- Russia): "We don’t have the chance to train well for the competition like all the other European teams as my team had only few training sessions to use the Golden Formula. We hope to perform well using the experience of our staff."
