Club World Championship awaits South American entry
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 5, 2009 — Eight teams in search of a single vacancy — such are the stakes at the South American Cup, which begins on Wednesday in Florianopolis in southern Brazil.

The winner of the competition, which wraps up Sunday, will qualify for the 2009 FIVB Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar, from November 3-8.

In the first phase of the tournament, the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each advancing to the semifinals.

The four teams in Group A are Brasil Vôlei Clube, COC, Cimed and Club Nacional. Group B is made up of Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, Unión de Formosa, Vivo/Minas and Club Deportivo.
