"We followed the instructions of our coach," says Zenit Kazan Captain

Zamalek captain Ashraf Aboulhassan speaking during he press conference

Zenith Kazan (RUS) head Coach, Vladimir Alekno
After the defeat against Trentino yesterday (Wednesday) I asked my players to concentrate harder for all the remaining matches in this championship and I believe they done well today. In this match we did rely on our serves and blocks which is our strength and the key of our success.

Captain, Lloy Ball
We followed the instructions of our Coach and played according to the plan we placed for the Egyptians. I’m happy with this victory that qualified us to the semifinal

Zamalek Cairo (EGY) head Coach, Ahmed El Sayed
Initially the scores were level, but as the game progressed the Russians overpowered us with their powerful serves and precise blocking. In the first two matches we used our key players to their full strength; they were really tired in this match and were not at their best physically. The Russians are physically strong and are used to such pressure, although they lost a match in the championship they looked focused and played the best volleyball.
There is a huge difference in the two teams if you compare, according to me our young side did a pretty job in representing Egypt and African volleyball in this championship. The teams with good serve and block have good chance in this format of the game. Our players were keen to win with the support of the Egyptians here; I thank them for their continuous support in this championship and hope we meet their expectations in future events.

Captain, Ashraf Abouelhassan
When you are up against Europe’s top team, they are not only the Champions League winner but they have a good reputation in the World. In all, we are happy with our performance here and we played some good matches. There is room for improvement and we will work on that for the future championships. After the loss in the first two matches, our morale was down and the players were not really focused, it helped our opponent and they took advantage. We were placed in a tough group. The new rule is physically very demanding and we couldn’t cope up to the pace of our opponents.
