Paykan Tehran (IRI)
Head Coach, Alireza Moameri
We are proud to book our place in the semifinals as the first Asian team. My confidence was paid off as they played according to the strategies placed for Al Arabi. As a matter of fact, our team has no foreign player, all are Iranian. Our club wanted to recruit players from different countries, but I refused and was against it. Now, we play the toughest Trentino in the semis, strategies will be planned and we hope to play a good match.
Captain, Amir Hosseini
Yesterday we watched the videos of Al Arabi and planned our strategies consequently. One of our aim was to contain no. 8 (Ahmed Abdelhay) and we succeeded, surprisingly they didn’t play no. 1 (Abdalla Ahmed) in this match; I believe these two could have taken the match away from us if played at their best.
Al Arabi Doha (QAT)
Head Coach, Mohammed Al Bahri
The players showed good level in the first set, but failed to win it, if they had played with the same confidence in the other two sets, they could have possibly win the match, unfortunately, we didn’t win. With every error the players were tensed and continued to make more faults due to which the performance level went down in the 2 and 3 sets.
The new Golden Formula rule will be difficult for women and children for the fact that it is more physically challenging, for the simple reason that the first attack comes from the 3m line. The rule, I believe is much dependent on the serve and block, while the setter is eliminated.
Captain, Said Al Jumani
Player, Ismail Al Shib
We managed to do our best, and showed the best of volleyball in Qatar. There is room for improvement and we will work on that.
