"Juantorena saved us with his service" Says Trentino coach

.
Trentino BetClic Trento (Italy) coach, Radostin Stoytchev
“It was quite difficult at the beginning of the Championship with the implementation of the new Volleyball Golden Formula. Playing early in the morning is quite difficult, we were not at our best.

"Although we started well in the first two sets, we lost a bit of concentration in the third set to lose 23-25. Zamalek played really well, they made it difficult for us, especially in the third and fourth sets. Accurate and precise serves got us through in the fourth set to win the game.

"We did our best to implement the new VGF rule. Although the success rate was not to our expectations, we hope to continue playing well in the remaining matches.

"Normally, we will be considered favorite to win the Championship. There are still some areas we need to improve. We won’t be dominating in the Championship as a lot depends on the new Golden Formula rule, but we hope to play in the final.”

Zamalek Cairo (Egypt) coach, Ahmed El Sayed
“At the beginning of the match our team was under pressure which was shown in the results of the first set. However, we came back strong to close the margin in the second set and eventually won the third set.

"In the fourth set, although we had a healthy lead, the Italians came back well with their experience to win the match.
Our players are relatively inexperienced, they are young and don’t have much international match experience.”

Captain, Ashraf Abouelhassan
“We performed well in the first match of the Championship, although we were not equal to the strong Italian side. We are happy to participate in this big event hosted by our brotherly country Qatar. Losing points was decisive in the fourth set where we had a healthy lead. In the end, the experience of Italy paid off.

"The players played well and our thanks go to the technical team which made us change our tactics to get on more attacking zone. This helped us in the third set.
It seemed as if we were playing at home.

"We had very good support from the Egyptian community residing in Qatar and it supported us to give a good performance.”
