Gamova quits the team after London

Ekaterina Gamova said she will quit the team after the Olympics. Her come back may be possibile, but she'll think it over

London, Great Britain, August 7, 2012 - “I will continue to play at club level” says Gamova less than one hour after the challenging game with Brazil. “I will take a break with the national team. I don’t know if it will be a permanent leave, or if I will resume after a long pause. Now I can’t answer to this question, but I planned it before leaving for London. It’s all about tiredness: I’ve been playing for many, many years. And all these rounds, the commitments with the national team, then the matches with clubs, cups… I’m tired, I need more rest.”

Gamova was introduced to volleyball by her mother, grandmother and an aunt in a volleyball family. She was 9-year old in her home town of Chelyabinsk. When she was 14 she joined the local club of Metar and started earning money, beginning in fact an outstanding professional career. In 1998 she moved to the well-known Uralochka club in Ekaterinburg (former Sverdlovsk). That happened in 1998 and a year later she was already with the national team. Ekaterinburg represented a key city for her life, even if she lives in Moscow now: that was the city where she became a world level player and where she met her future husband.
