"USA took great steps towards being first in the group" says Murilo Endres

USA setter Donald Suxho (far left) celebrates the third consecutive win of his side at the London Olympics

London, Great Britain, August 2, 2012 – “It was an important match, we worked hard and got better by sticking together and trusting each other more. They are the best team in the world. The first set it was all them and we had to adapt and change for the second set” said setter Donald Suxho after USA’s third consecutive win in the tournament, this time over triple world champions Brazil. “The crowd was amazing, it was a sell-out. Everyone was cheering. My son, wife and parents were all watching so it was a dream that comes true”.
“We hung in there” added William Priddy. “We were tight in the beginning and tried to do too much defense. They are a great team, we are really glad to beat one of the world-class teams. There are six teams that can do well in the rest of the tournament, so we need to work hard. We improved from the last match, which was important. We don’t just need to win, we need to improve”.

“We won the first set but afterwards we didn’t know how to work and we lost patience. We have to try and make fewer mistakes and in the third and fourth sets we made a lot of them” commented Brazil setter Bruno Rezende.
“Our goal is to qualify for the quarterfinal. From then it is a completely different story” singled out his teammate Dante Amaral.
“We were good in the first set and could have gone to 2-0. But we couldn’t manage it. USA managed to break our defence. We need to make less errors” pointed out Murilo Endres. “USA took great steps towards being first in the group. We are going to think match by match now. We did a fantastic match against Russia but sometimes you play badly. Our passes were good but we didn’t attack well and we made blocking errors”.
