SEMENOV & PROKOPIEV
Together: 2011 (3) // from 2012 (1)
Moscow-native Serguei Prokopiev and Kostantin Semenov, who was
born in Kyrgyzstan but resides in Smolensk, Russia, have formed a
new partnership for the London Olympics after playing earlier this
year with different partners. The pair started the qualifying process
for London by placing ninth together in World Tour events in Brazil
and the Czech Republic last year, but split to play with Yury Bogatov
(Prokopiev, 12 events) and Yaroslav Koshkarev (Semenov, 14 events).
Both players have competed in World Tour “final fours”. Prokopiev
and Bogatov were fourth at the 2008 Sanya stop while Semenov and
Koshkarev captured a bronze medal at the 2011 event in The Hague.
Prokopiev and Koshkarev won the bronze medal at the 2005 FIVB
Junior World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Despite a lack
of time together Semonov and Prokopiev’s form at the World Cup
Olympic Qualification Tournament was impressive, helping Russia
earn one of the two Olympic vacancies on offer.
