For almost every athlete the Olympic Games is the
pinnacle of their sport. To have the chance to perform in an Olympic arena
is an honour not many sports men or women will ever have, so the desire to
reach such an event is limitless.
The Visa FIVB Beach Volleyball International, the 2012 Olympic Games
beach volleyball test event, which will run
from August 9 to 14, will be the first time an international beach
volleyball tournament will be staged in the British capital and comes just under one year before the Olympic tournament begins.
This
event is critical to test not only the technical and functional aspects of
the beach volleyball tournaments at the London 2012 Olympic Games,
which will be staged in the same location, but also to attract media attention to beach
volleyball. Athletes participating in the event are given an
opportunity to step in as advocates for our sport and contribute to
the success of beach volleyball at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
