Volleyball stars to hit west london

The historic Earls Court in the west of London is set to host the London 2012 Olympic Games volleyball tournament when it begins on July 28, 2012.

The tournament will run for 16 days in total, finishing on August 12 with the men's gold medal final. 12 teams will compete in the men's and women's editions for the gold medal.

Volleyball was first introduced to the Olympics at the 1964 Games in Tokyo and since then has been a stalwart for the four-yearly event.

At the last tournament in Beijing Brazil's women claimed their first ever gold medal at the event with victory over USA in the final while the American men reversed the result by beating the Brazilians in their final.
