Ukrainian Volleyball Federation re-elects Mykhailo Melnyk as President

Truskavets, Ukraine, August 10, 2020 – Mykhailo Melnyk was unanimously re-elected as Ukrainian Volleyball Federation (UVF) President at the XXVI UVF General Assembly on 8 August 2020.

During his previous term as President, volleyball in Ukraine continued to go from strength to strength. Not only has the level of domestic competition risen significantly, but the country has also seen the appearance of new and ambitious local clubs that are having a positive influence on the development of grassroots volleyball.

In addition, UVF has enjoyed great success at an international level. For example, in the 2017 edition of the CEV European League, the Ukraine men’s and women’s national teams both claimed gold. Team Ukraine also reached the quarterfinals of the CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men before losing to Serbia, the eventual gold medal winners.

Following his re-election, Melnyk was congratulated by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine President Sergey Bubka. Melnyk will now lead the UVF for a further four years. Meanwhile, Kateryna Biliachenko will continue to serve as the organisation’s Secretary General after being voted in by all 80 delegates at the assembly.
