World No. 46 Bulgaria celebrate their unexpected straight-set win over the United States of America.
Brno, Czech Republic, June 21, 2013 – World No. 46 Bulgaria outclassed USA in today’s second Pool C duel at 2013 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Brno, Czech Republic. The young European athletes made short work of their opponents from the United States (25-12, 25-21, 25-17).

Gergana Dimitrova topped the scorers with 17 points for Bulgaria while Merete Lutz was the best scorer for the USA with 11 kills. USA committed 17 unforced errors, Bulgaria only 10.

Even though USA recovered well after their cold shower in the first set (12-25), Bulgaria controlled the game at the end of the second period and kept momentum in the third and last set. The US passers experienced a hard time with ten Bulgarian service winners.

Bulgaria continue their U20 World Champs campaign on Saturday versus Mexico while the United States of America challenge World No. 2 Brazil on the second competition day of the 2013 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship.
