Kenya Prisons eye fourth consecutive African club title

Kenya Prisons are aiming to win their fourth straight African Club Championship
Antananarivo, Madagascar, April 3, 2013 – Four-time African champions Kenya Prisons are looking for their fifth African crown and another trip to the FIVB Club World Championship this year as the African Club Championship gets under way in Madagascar.
Kenya Prisons have won the last three African Championships.

"I know it will be a great challenge for us to win this competition as we have here the most prominent teams on the continent," coach David Lungaho admitted.

"This time, we are coming as a famous team after our participation three times in the World Championship and of course we are under the scope of all the other teams. I think we have to do a lot of work to win this time."

Prisons have dominated African volleyball since their first appearance in 2008. Now they have more than six players in the Kenyan senior national team, led by experienced setter Jane Wacu, strong centre Bracksides Khadambi and her colleague Diana Khisa. The team also includes powerful outside hitter Everlyne Makuto, who is considered the most promising player on the continent.

"We are considering this competition as a new challenge. The players are still seeking a new approach to the World Championship between the best teams in the elite," the coach added.
