CEV and FIVB renew alliance for good of volleyball
“We are grateful to the FIVB President for visiting us by the time our Confederation is celebrating its 40th anniversary and on such a special weekend for us,” CEV President André Meyer says. As he was surrounded by all CEV Board members as well as by the Presidents of 41 out of the 55 national federations affiliated to CEV, Mr. Meyer addressed his guests by recalling the importance of the work Europe’s volleyball family is doing: “Getting together here tonight testifies our intention to join forces with FIVB to support the growth and development of volleyball and beach volleyball on the global stage” he stressed. “The FIVB knows very well the importance of the work done by the Continental Confederations and I am sure we are all sharing the same vision and goals. Still we have to work hard but we know that similarly to what happens out there on the playing field team work is quintessential and remains our main reference” he added before his address was warmly welcomed by Dr. Graça.
Later in the evening the volleyball family was joined also by the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr. Etienne Schneider, who – on his way back from a European summit in Dublin – decided to stop by to pay his tribute to CEV and its leadership, expressing his appraisal for the European Volleyball Confederation was the very first international sports organization to settle down – as early as in 1989 – in the Grand Duchy.
