Latvian Volleyball Federation unveil new, modern corporate identity

The Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF) has unveiled its new corporate identity to members of the volleyball community, media and public.

The LVF developed its new identity over the past year, combining the long-lasting traditions and values of volleyball to showcase modern sport promotion. The basic element of the visual identity is a laconic graphical sign, which symbolically combines the letter “V”, a volleyball player and the Latvian national flag. The new identity also includes additional visuals specifically for beach volleyball and youth volleyball.

LVF President Janis Buks said:

“Modern, inclusive and sustainable – these were the main requirements we set when we started the process of developing the new visual identity of the Latvian Volleyball Federation. During this process, we concluded that we wanted to move away from a narrow, institutional symbol, and instead head towards something that unifies the whole Latvian volleyball community. This is why the graphical sign includes the “Volleyball Latvia” script. Moreover, our additional visuals for beach and youth volleyball ensure that everyone who belongs to our volleyball community can identify with the new brand.”

The new visual identity provides two specific visuals. The beach volleyball graphical symbol features a bright neon green colour with the ‘Pludmale’ (Beach) script, symbolising the essence of the sport – excitement, attraction and vivid emotions. At the same time, it refers to the Olympic Games London 2012 where Martins Plavins and Janis Smedins claimed a bronze medal, the highest achievement in Latvian volleyball history, while wearing similar green tone shirts.

Meanwhile, the youth volleyball graphical logo features a lilac purple colour and includes the ‘Jaunatne’ (Youth) script, thus symbolising the bright futures of the next generation of volleyball players.

In addition, the corporate identity includes a specific graphic for the national team which features the three stars from Latvia’s Monument of Freedom and the ‘Volejbols Latvija’ (Volleyball Latvia) script. This visual will also feature on the uniforms of Latvia’s volleyball national teams, which are currently in the design process.

LVF Secretary General Gunta Aizporiete said:

“The presentation of the new identity is just the beginning. There is much work currently ongoing to develop various materials, such as uniforms for the national teams, gadgets for fans, designs of sports halls, a new website and other practical issues. We truly hope that the men’s national team will take part in EuroVolley 2021 wearing the new uniforms, and we will also do our best to ensure that our fans are able to support our athletes by using gadgets featuring this new identity.”
