Lausanne, Switzerland, November 19, 2013 – With less than 1,000 days until the next Olympic Games, the International Volleyball Federation and Rio 2016 are fully focused on ensuring the beach volleyball and volleyball tournaments are the best yet.

The FIVB hosted Rio 2016 at its headquarters in Lausanne on Tuesday to discuss the latest updates for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, to ensure both athletes and fans have a great experience.

The meeting included Rio 2016's Executive Director of Sport and Paralympic Integration, Agberto Guimarães, Executive Director of Sport and Paralympic Integration Rodrigo Garcia, Head of Sport Competition Katy Dunnet, Head of Sport Policies and Operations Christy Nicolay, and Head of Sport Presentation, along with FIVB General Director Carlos Luiz Martins, FIVB Sports Events Director Gabrielle van Zweiten, FIVB Beach Volleyball Events Director Angelo Squeo, and other department directors.

In September, the FIVB made their first inspection of the volleyball and beach volleyball sites in Rio de Janeiro. The inspection included a look at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium and the Organising Committee headquarters. After the inspection, FIVB first Executive Vice-President Cristóbal Marte expressed his satisfaction and high expectations for the event.

"I’m really satisfied with what I’ve seen here,” Hoffiz said. “The Organising Committee is really well structured and defined, with professionals that understand what they have in their hands. It will allow the event to be organised in the best possible way.”

Rio 2016 also recently released the volleyball and beach volleyball pictograms, which will serve as a communication platform for the promotion of the sports, for partner activations, and the Games’ visual identity.

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games will run from August 5 to August 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
