Switzerland's Sascha Heyer (left) and Sebastian Chevallier discuss their partnership in the latest edition of VolleyWorld | Lausanne, Switzerland, April 12, 2012 – Swiss beach volleyball veteran Sascha Heyer said he feels invigorated after his inaugural season with new partner Sebastian Chevallier in the first edition of VolleyWorld for 2012, which is now on the FIVB website in English, French, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish.
The 39-year-old, who has been on the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour for 18 seasons, began playing with his young partner in 2011 and has said it has given him a new lease of life.
“I now have a very fast racehorse with me, so it’s really good for me as a guy who is getting older to have a young guy next to me kicking my butt sometimes when I’m not moving that fast,” he said.
Whilst Heyer is benefitting from the youthful exuberance from his new partner, Chevallier is drawing from years of experience.
“It’s a perfect opportunity for me,” he said. “He knows a lot about the teams so we can really prepare well for the matches. I’m here to learn and I have nothing to lose. It’s really nice to play with Sascha. He’s a great blocker, a great motivator and he knows the game.”
