FIVB President in Bangkok for special ceremony

FIVB President Mr. Jizhong Wei chaired the task force that has helped rebuild schools and Volleyball courts in Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand, July 18, 2010 - FIVB President Mr Jizhong Wei arrived in Bangkok on Sunday to preside over the opening ceremony for a number of newly-built Volleyball courts and schools.
Mr. Wei and his wife were welcomed at the Suvarnabhumi Airport by Shanrit Wongprasert, FIVB Board of Administration and Sports Events Commission member and executive member of the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA), before attending a welcome dinner at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Bangkok.
He will now travel to Phuket to participate in the inauguration ceremony of a number of newly-built schools, fully-equipped with Volleyball courts, joining officials from the Thai government and the National Olympic Committee.

A total of five schools with seven Volleyball courts have now been opened as part of the FIVB Asian School project and they have been fully operational since June. Each school has five classrooms and can accommodate 150 students.
The task force of the construction for the new schools was chaired by Mr. Wei, and also included efforts from the Olympic Committee of Thailand, the Sports Authority of Thailand and the TVA.
On Thursday, Mr. Wei will preside over the official handover of the schools and Volleyball courts to the NOC in Bangkok.
