STARE JABLONKI 2005
- The scenic recreational centre amidst the lakes and woods hosted its first
“major” beach volleyball event in 2004 when the men’s SWATCH-FIVB World Tour saw
Olympic Champions Emanuel Rego and Ricardo Santos win five-straight elimination
matches enroute to the Stare Jablonki title. The 2004 event marked the return
of Ricardo to action after spraining his right ankle two weeks earlier in
Mallorca. The gold medal finish also started a string of three-straight event
titles for Emanuel and Ricardo, who also won in Austria the next week followed
by their Olympic win in Athens. Two Polish teams finished 25th in the 2004
Stare Jablonki event. The Stare Jablonki stop is situated on courts at the
Hotel Anders resort in the Mazurian Lakes District in the north-eastern Poland,
about 30 km south-west of Olsztyn. The Hotel Anders, situated in the Taborskie
Woods on the Lake Szelag Maly, is a 150-room resort thate features both Polish
and European style cuisine
