Istanbul, Turkey, October 25, 2020 – Russian star Tatyana Kosheleva helped her new club Galatasaray HDI Istanbul defeat table leaders Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul in a match of the 11th leg in Turkey’s Sultanlar Ligi on Friday.

Just days after joining the Turkish club for a second time in her career, the 31-year-old outside hitter scored 19 points including four stuff blocks towards Galatasaray’s surprising 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 27-25, 22-25, 15-11) victory over Eczacibasi for whom this was only the second defeat in 11 games since the start of the season.

Ukrainian national team opposite Olesia Rykhliuk was Galatasaray’s best scorer of the match on a total of 34 points, while Serbian star Tijana Boskovic topped the charts on a fantastic 38 points for Eczacibasi.

The result improved the Yellow-and-Reds’ win-loss record to 5-5 and put them in ninth place in the current league standings.

For Kosheleva, a 2010 world champion and two-time European champion (MVP on both occasions) with Russia, Eczacibasi was the first foreign club in her career. With them she won gold at the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship. She competed for Galatasaray the following season (2016-2017) and then played for clubs from Brazil, Italy and China before returning to Russia and joining Lokomotiv Kaliningrad in early 2020.
