Osasco, Brazil, September 30, 2020 – SESI Volei Bauru relied on a great performance by star setter Dani Lins to secure their third-straight victory at the 2020 Paulista Championship, a three-set 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) road victory against in-state rivals Osasco Audax at the Jose Liberatti arena.

A London 2012 Olympic champion, the 35-year-old Dani Lins did well to keep all her teammates involved in the team’s offence. The team captain also helped outside hitter Tifanny Abreu score 17 points, more than any other player in the match.

Fellow London 2012 Olympic champion middle blocker Adenizia da Silva also scored in double digits with 11 points while Chilean opposite Pamela Sanabio added eight points for the visitors.

SESI Volei Bauru’s head coach Anderson Rodrigues, an Athens 2004 Olympic champion with Brazil’s men’s national team, hasn’t yet been able to use the team’s pair of international stars, Azerbaijan’s opposite Polina Rahimova and the Dominican Republic’s libero Brenda Castillo, as both players only recently joined the team and are still regaining fitness.

Another member of the Brazilian team that took gold at the London Olympics, opposite Tandara Caixeta was Osasco’s leading scorer with 15 points. Middle blocker Ana Beatriz Correa and two-time Olympic champion outside hitter Jaqueline Carvalho trailed with 11 and ten points respectively.

Undefeated after three matches, SESI Volei Bauru will now face defending champions Sao Paulo Barueri, who are coached by three-time Olympic champion Jose Roberto Guimaraes, on Friday. On the same day, Osasco, who have won two of their first three matches in the tournament, will try to bounce back against Renata Valinhos.
