Brazil, China triumph in Military Games

China's Li YingYing tries to beat the block of Brazil's Valquiria Dullius and Sonaly Cidrao in the final of the 7th CISM Military Games in Wuhan.
Lausanne, Switzerland, October 27, 2019 - Brazil's women and China's men dominated the 7th CISM Military Games in Wuhan, picking up the gold medals of the volleyball competitions in the two genders of the competition.

Led by Ellen Braga on 20 points, Amanda Juliana on 19 and Sonaly Cidrao on 17, Brazil beat China 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19) in the women's final. China's Wang Yunlu was top scorer of the final with 23 points.

The two teams had also met in pool play earlier in the competition with China prevailing in straight sets.

Previously North Korea had defeated Germany 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-9) for bronze.

To close the competition, which included 27 sports overall, China downed South Korea 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21) in the men's final.

China's Zhang Zhejia and South Korea's Heo Subong shared top-scoring honours with 30 points each.

Pakistan picked up the men's bronze medal following a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-16) sweep of Qatar in the third-place playoff.
