Egypt announce final World Championship squad

Egypt's squad for the 2014 Men's World Championship
Rome, Italy, August 25, 2014 - Egypt's men's national team jets to Poland on Monday for a short camp ahead of the 2014 FIVB Men's World Championship, which begins on August 30.

The African Champions completed the Italian stage of their preparations for the World Championship with three wins in four matches against local teams. They will now play two friendly matches against the Poland B team on Tuesday and Wednesday, before they take on China in the World Championship on September 1.

Egypt coach Ibrahim Fakhreldin has announced his final squad, which includes:

Hossam Yousif, Mohamed Fathy (Setters),
Ahmed Salah Abdelnaim, Ahmed Kotb (Opposite spikers),
Rashad Shibl, Mamdouh Abdel Moneim, Abdelhalim Mohamed (Middle blockers),
Saleh Fathy, Mohamed Badawy, Mohamed Elhossiny, Islam Abdelsamea (Outside hitters)
and Essam Meaoad (Libero).

Egypt started their World Championship preparations in Tunisia from August 1-4, where they defeated the Tunisian national team twice in friendly matches. They then traveled to Algeria, where they defeated Algeria in three friendly matches from August 5-9. After a camp in Cairo, Egypt moved on to Italy, where they played another four matches against local teams.

Egypt will take on Russia, Canada, China, Bulgaria and Mexico in Pool C of the World Championship finals in Gda?sk.
