Argentina prepare for first weekend of World Grand Prix

Las Panteras prepare for the World Grand Prix
Carolina, Puerto Rico, July 24, 2014 - Argentina's women's team "Las Panteras" have arrived in Puerto Rico, where they will play the first weekend of the Preliminary Round of the FIVB World Grand Prix 2014. Coach Guillermo Orduna's team are ready for their fourth consecutive participation in the premier annual event for women's national teams.

The Argentine delegation traveled last Tuesday and began training at the venue on Wednesday. The first weekend in World Grand Prix Pool K, which is to be held at the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo, will see Argentina facing the home team Puerto Rico at 20.10 local time on Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday they will play Cuba and the Netherlands respectively.

This season, Argentina are in Group 2, with another seven teams. After the first three weekends, the top four teams will compete for honours in the Group 2 Finals in Koszalin, Poland and for a chance to participate in the FIVB Grand Prix Final Round to take place in Tokyo, Japan.

The light blue and white team will travel to Europe for the second weekend, before hosting the third weekend of play in Buenos Aires for the first time. Matches will be played at the new state-of-the-art Lomas de Zamora stadium.
