China’s Yuan Zhi shines with World League record despite loss against Cuba
Yuan, who is 1.95 meters tall and reach 3.48 meters on attack, scored 37 points for his team. And he achieved the best scoring performance in the 2014 FIVB World League so far. He made 31 spikes, 5 aces and a block point.
China’s star said that he displayed a good performance because of his teammates contribution: “I did not think how many points I can score before the match. We lost the game and we regret it. My performance relies on the whole team. We played high level volleyball and all of our players contributed. I will try to make a new record in the third place game but of course it will depend on the whole team.”
Before Yuan Zhi’s great effort on June 28, American Matthew Anderson was leading the scorers with 36 points.
