Caguas win ninth women’s title in Puerto Rico

Caguas, Puerto Rico, May 14, 2014 – Caguas won their ninth women’s title in the Puerto Rican Volleyball Superior League on Tuesday with a straight-set victory over Ponce (25-11, 25-18, 25-18).
Karina Ocasio, Falyn Fonoimoana and Stephanie Enright, with 13, 12 and 11 points respectively, topped the winning attack, while Nicole Fawcett won 13 points for Ponce.
Caguas libero Shara Venegas was an outstanding performer throughout the series, and picked up the the Most Valuable Player prize.
Nelson Perez, President of the Puerto Rican National Volleyball Federation, was present at the championship's closing ceremony to present the champions trophy to Francisco Ramos, who is the Caguas team owner.
Ponce had extended the series to a sixth match by winning the fifth contest at home in straight sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-14). Fawcett and Airial Salvo both contributed 15 points on that occasion.
