Grbic embarks on new journey at Perugia

Nikola Grbic will now embark on a second life as a volleyball coach

Perugia, Italy, May 9, 2014 - Serbian legend Nikola Grbic does not stop making the headlines. Only ten days after winning the Russian Superleague with Zenit Kazan, the 40-year old setter will now embark on a new life as Sir Safety Perugia's head coach.

Sir Safety Perugia caused a major sensation in this year’s Italian national league, making the championship series with Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata, and announced Grbic as their new coach today.

Only a few days ago, Zenit Kazan announced that Grbic would return to Italy to continue his career in the country he had moved to in the early ‘90s. The news that Grbic will coach Perugia next year immediately went viral on social media. The Sydney 2000 Olympic champion, 2001 European champion and multiple medallist from all major international competitions will replace his compatriot Slobodan Kovac, who left Perugia at the end of the 2013/14 season to start working with Iran's men’s national team.
