Strumica and Forza Volej win national titles

Forza Volej wins seventh title in a row

Skopje, FYR of Macedonia April 29, 2014 - The men’s team of Strumica and the women’s team of Forza Volej Skopje became the national champions of FYR of Macedonia for 2014.

For Strumica this is the third championship title.  The team from the Balkan country’s southeast won the best-of-five final series against Sinalko Krushevo by three victories to none and without losing a set.  In the first match at home Strumica shut out the opponent by 3:0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-16) and followed up by a 3:0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-15) away.  Another straight-set victory at home in the third match by 3:0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-18) sealed the title for Strumica.

Forza Volej won the gold from the women’s league for the seventh consecutive time.  The Skopje team won its best-of-three championship series in a similar way, with three victories.  Forza allowed its opponents from Janata Volej Skopje only one set in the entire final playoff.  The defending champions shut out Janata in the first and the third matches at home - 3:0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-17) and 3:0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-18), and in the away game in between the victory game by the score of 3:1 (27-29, 25-21, 26-24, 25-15).

So Forza Volej is celebrating a golden double after earlier this month it also won the Kup Makedonija.  In the national cup final, Forza defeated the same team, Janata, by 3:0 (26-24, 25-20, 26-24).
