Izmir gets ready for men's and women's Final Four in the Teledunya Super Cup
The women’s teams taking part are Eczacibasi VitrA, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray Daikin and VakifBank. The men’s teams consist of Fenerbahce Grundig, Halkbank, Istanbul Büyüksehir Belediye and Maliye Milli Piyango. A press conference was held at the Istanbul Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall with Vice President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation Mustafa Eksi, along with the Executive Editor of sponsor TV channel sportstv Ilhan Uzundurukan and the captains and coaches of the participating teams. Mr. Eksi opened the meeting by congratulating all the teams in the Final Four. He added: “Turkish volleyball has been improving and six of our teams this year played in European finals. This is such an honour for us. I congratulate all the clubs, coaches, technical crews and volleyball players who managed to achieve those successes by making the right moves at the right time. I believe we are going to watch some breathtaking matches in the Final Fours of the Teledunya Super Cup.” The Executive Editor of sportstv, Ilhan Uzundurukan, commented: “Sportstv is a sports channel that supports all kind of sports and volleyball has a special place for us. In Turkey, volleyball is the most successful branch and we are very happy to be a part of it. The matches will be broadcast live on sportstv. We are ready for this and I want to thank the Turkish Volleyball Federation for their cooperation and also our sponsor Teledunya.” Coaches’ comments: Women: Eczacibasi VitrA Assistant Coach Alper Hamurcu; “This is a serious tournament that is going to take place for three days. Everybody is looking forward to it and there will be very successful world players there. Izmir will see a high quality tournament. We will do our best to win the Cup. I wish luck to all the teams.” Fenerbahce Coach Marcello Abbondanza; “The Teledunya Super Cup is a very important tournament. It comes at a very tough time because our programme is too busy. It is going to be tough. All four teams have the power to make it to the final.” Galatasaray Daikin Assistant Coach Ataman Guneyligil: “We are very happy to be a part of this event. The best men’s and women’s teams will be in Izmir this weekend. I wish luck to everyone who will take part in the Final Four.” VakifBank Coach Giovanni Guidetti: “First of all, I want to thank the Turkish Volleyball Federation. I think this is a first in volleyball history that both men’s and women’s teams are playing in the Final Four at the same time. I think all my 14 players are ready for the matches. We want to win that Cup.” Men: Fenerbahce Grundig Manager Abdullah Pasaoglu: “We want to thank the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Teledunya and sportstv first. I believe there will be high-class matches in Izmir. Izmir is a city that loves volleyball. I think there will be a volleyball festival there. I wish luck to all the teams”. Halkbank Coach Radostin Stoytchev: “We are thankful to TVF and all the sponsors. It is an honour to take part in the Final Four. It is very important for Turkish volleyball. We are training hard to win this cup. I congratulate all the teams who showed great success to get here.” Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi Coach Nedim Ozbey: “We’ll do our best to win this Cup after a tough Turkish League period and European Cup matches. I hope it will finish with no injuries. I believe all four teams will fight to win the cup and we will do our best as well. I wish good luck to all of them.” Maliye Milli Piyango Coach Josko Milenkoski: “I wish success to all the teams. We are very happy to be a part of this event for the first time in our club’s history.
