AJF Bastardo and Castelo Da Maia GC to meet in Cup of Portugal Final

 
This will be the fourth time that the city of Coimbra will host this important competition

Lisbon, Portugal, March 28, 2014 - The men’s Cup of Portugal Final between Azorean side Associação de Jovens da Fonte do Bastardo and northern team Castêlo da Maia Ginásio Clube, will take place on April 20 in Portugal’s city of Coimbra and will be live broadcasted by Sport TV.

In the semi finals, the current trophy holders, AJF Bastardo, beat CA Madalena 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-16, 25-23), while Castelo da Maia edged the current National Champion SL Benfica by 3-1 (16-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-22).

Castêlo da Maia has won the trophy on five occasions (1994, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010) while Fonte Bastardo only victory was achieved last year against Vitória de Guimarães. 

The Cup Final will be organised by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation, Coimbra City Hall and Coimbra Volleyball Association.
