Egypt make it three wins for three at Women's World Championship qualifier
Algiers, Algeria, February 25, 2014 - The Egypt women's volleyball team continued their winning rhythm at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Africa Pool T qualification tournament as they beat Congo DR 3-0 (25-4, 25-20, 25-16) on the third day of the round robin tournament held at Harcha Hacène Hall in Algiers, Algeria on Tuesday, while Botswana surprised Nigeria 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21).
The victory improved Egypt’s win:loss ratio to 3:0 meaning that they now lead the six nation tournament with two matches still to be played. Congo DR dropped to 0:2. Egypt’s experienced opposite spiker Ingy El Shami led all scorers with 14 points.
Up and coming Botswana upset the experienced Nigerian team 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21) to improve their win:loss record to 1:1, while Nigeria dropped to 0:2
The winner of the six nation tournament will earn a ticket to the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Italy 2014, which will take place from September 23 to October 12.
