Young Omar Fuqaha makes waves in Palestine

 
Omar has a bright future in the sport of volleyball and has received many offers to play on teams in other Gulf countries
Ramallah, Palestine, February 3, 2014 – As the Palestine Premier League came to a close on Sunday, the local volleyball scene was abuzz with everyone talking about 25 year old player Omar Fuqaha.

Fuqaha, who currently plays for Singel Club was instrumental in helping his team to their 3-2 (25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 15-12) win against Jayyous on Sunday. The Jayyous team is currently champion of the 2013/2014 Premier League with Singel ranked second.

The 25 year old player, who is also plays for the Palestine national team, scored 60 percent of the points for the winning side. At 190cm, Fuqaha has a serving speed of 110 miles an hour and has quickly gained recognition for his blocking techniques. Over the past two years, Fuqaha has played five international matches and ten international beach volleyball matches in Indonesia, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt.

Off court, Fuqaha has won the respect of his peers and entourage for his strong work and moral ethics.

The Palestine Federation will award Omar the best spiker and server awards.

Over 1,500 fans attended the two hour long match with many members of the National Volleyball Federation, the National Olympic Committee, government and other sporting organisations in attendance.
