Javier Weber to step down as coach of Argentina men's team
FeVA expressed its gratitude for Weber’s work, professionalism and outstanding results and is now exploring ways of making sure the men’s team stays on the same path of improvement and development.
Weber took charge of the Argentine senior men’s team in 2009, taking over from Jon Uriarte, and steered the team to their best ever finish in the FIVB World League, qualifying them for a place in the Finals.
Two years’ later, Argentina did even better, reaching the semifinals, where they lost to Brazil, and finished in fourth place.
Under Weber, the men’s team introduced a younger set of players and were able to finish in ninth place in the 2010 FIVB World Championship.
In 2012, they went even better, qualifying for the London Olympics and reaching the top eight teams in the world.
Argentina have already qualified for the 2014 FIVB World Championship.
