Volleyball officials honoured by Argentine Olympic Committee

Alejandro Bolgeri and Rolando Cholakian are presented with awards by the Argentine Olympic Committee
Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 20, 2013 – Each year, the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) recognizes a number of people in different sports at its end-of-year party with their Annual Awards to athletes, officials and others who have made significant contributions over the year.

This year, there was double joy for the Argentine Volleyball Federation when two well-known volleyball officials – Alejandro Bolgeri and Rolando Cholakian – were recognized for their good work and dedication to the sport.

Architect Alejandro Bolgeri was recognized not only for his two spells as President of the Argentine Volleyball Federation, but also for his dedicated work with the South American Volleyball Confederation and the Argentine Olympic Committee.

Rolando Cholakian received recognition for his superb work as an international referee, including his contribution at the London Olympic Games in 2012.

The COA presented awards to various people in sports and other areas. To volleyball, it added "A Great Example of Sports," "Sport and Social Responsibility," "The Promotion and Broadcasting of Olympic Activities" and "Women and Sport," completing a total of nine awards. FEVA had nominated people for six of these prizes.

The COA also advises the International Olympic Committee and the International Fair Play Committee the names and backgrounds of those who have received awards so that they may be considered for IOC awards.
