Bangkok, Thailand, December 6, 2013 - The Volleyball in School
Symposium, jointly organised by FIVB, AVC and Thailand Volleyball Association
(TVA) at the Alexander Hotel in Bangkok, came to a successful conclusion
on Thursday.
A total of 30 participants from 18 countries including five Thai
nationals attended the three-day seminar, which was directed by Mr Mark Tennant
and Mr John Kessel, FIVB Instructors from Canada and the USA.
The course was supervised by Mr Ramon Suzara, AVC Chairman of the Development
and Marketing Committee.
The TVA president Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang
presided over the closing ceremony on Thursday, presenting certificates to every participant. Present at the
opening ceremony on Tuesday were guests of honour Mr. Ramon Suzara (Chairman of the AVC Marketing &
Development Committee) and Mr Chai Nimakorn, (Director of the FIVB Development
Center in Thailand).
"The seminar on ‘Volleyball in School’ is of fundamental importance
in learning how to develop volleyball in Thailand. The TVA have used this
for future practical purpose and we are proud that volleyball has so far become
one of the most popular sports in our country,” said Chaibangyang.
"We have been continually hosting volleyball competitions at all
age levels for school boys and girls, some of the events have been organised
for around 29 years.
"I would like to thank the FIVB for giving Thailand an opportunity
to host the ‘Volleyball in School’ Symposium. I'm confident that upon return,
all participants will apply their knowledge and valuable experience for the development
of volleyball in schools in their country," said Chaibangyang at the
closing ceremony.
"Despite being exhausted from the tight seminar schedule, which
included theoretical and practical components and which ran from morning till
night, I hope all participants had a pleasant stay here. I wish you all a nice
trip back home and that you arrive safe and sound."
