Tunisia one more step toward World Championship qualification finals
Tunis, Tunisia, November 23, 2013 - Tunisia's men's volleyball team claimed the gold medal at the African Zone 1 (Pool M) qualification tournament for the 2014 World Championship after they achieved their second win against Algeria 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 27-25) in the final day of the competition at Rades hall in Tunis on Friday.
Tunisia improved their win-loss ratio to 2-0, while Algeria dropped to 1-1 to claim the silver medal ahead of Morocco who came at the bottom of the table with 0-2.
According to the qualification format, Tunisia already secured a berth to the final round as one of the top three ranked teams in the 2013 FIVB World Ranking and will be joined by Algeria as zonal representatives.
Tunisia will head Pool three in the finals along with Seychelles, Congo Brazzaville, Senegal and Niger, while Algeria will be drawn with Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon and Zone 5 winner in Pool 1.
