Argentina girls ready for South American Championship
Saquarema, Brazil, November 8, 2013 - Argentina’s Youth Girls' Team arrived in Brazil, ready for the South American Championship next week in the Colombian city of Popayan. The national team worked very hard in Brazil, facing several friendly matches against the host team as part of their training.
The girls, coached by Guillermo Caceres, practiced at the facilities of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation in Saqarema, Rio de Janeiro. The venue will also host the Youth Boys' South American Championship in December, the last continental competition of the year.
Argentina and Brazil played several friendly matches with Argentina showing improvement throughout the week. The first three matches resulted in two victories for Brazil, 3-1 (25-23, 15-25, 16-25, 21-25) and 3-0 (21-25, 21-25,21-25). On Wednesday they played a four-set match that ended 2-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 18-25).
On Friday, the morning match was won by the host team 2-1 (25-23, 20-25, 23-25), while the afternoon victory went to Argentina 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-17).
This Saturday the rest of the delegations will arrive in Popayan for the competition that starts Monday, November 11.
